Welcome to Ennis Chess Club

Marcel Castricum, 1965 - 2006

The club was saddened to learn of the untimely death of Marcel Castricum in the Netherlands earlier this year. For several seasons Marcel competed for our club on top board, the quality of much of his play way exceeding his official rating of 2200 or thereabouts. His last visit to us was in 2004 when he competed in, and won the North Munster Tournament. He will be very sincerely missed.

STOP PRESS! Ennis Chess Club has moved to Brogan's, 24 O'Connell St., Ennis, meeting Tuesdays from 20:30.

Introduction

Ennis Chess Club is a vibrant, friendly and relaxed place where players of all levels of ability can mingle and play informal or serious games. New members are always welcome.

For the 2005/2006 Season, the club has moved to Brogan's, O'Connell St., Ennis, meeting upstairs every Tuesday from 20:30 to 23:30.

This season, the club is striving to retain it's Munster title for the third year in succession and, after the heroics of St. Vincent last September, to qualify once again for the European Club Cup. Also this season, the club has linked up with the Celtic Tigers - a joint Irish/Welsh team competing in Division 4 of the 4 Nations Chess League (4NCL) in England.
